Abstract
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) competitively awards fellowships to outstanding graduate students to engage in impactful sustainability and community resilience research projects within its surrounding region, nation and/or globally, under the mentorship of a faculty advisor and coordinated by the UTRGV’s Office for Sustainability. This program provides a one-year research experience to students to advance intentional and focused sustainable development within any given discipline/project. This successful program model extends various resources that connect student, advisors and public/private partners with centers of excellence (such as the UTRGV Department of Sponsored Grants & Contracts as well as the department of Technologies and Commercialization when successful seek research funding and/or patents). Join us as we share the simple and practical methodology behind this successful program.
