Sedentary Behavior, Physical Activity Involvement, and Productivity of Teaching Personnel

Abstract

The study investigates the interplay between sedentary behavior, physical activity involvement, and the productivity levels of the teaching personnel at Bulacan State University, Malolos, Philippines. To assess the prevalence of sedentary behavior among teaching personnel, analyze their engagement in physical activity, and explore the potential correlations with productivity levels are the aims of the study. A cross-sectional survey design was employed, utilizing self-reported data collected from a representative sample of teaching personnel. The survey instrument includes validated measures of sedentary behavior, physical activity involvement, and productivity. Statistical analyses, such as correlation and regression analyses, were conducted to examine the relationships among the variables of interest. The findings of the study suggest a nuanced relationship between sedentary behavior, physical activity, and productivity among teaching personnel. Initial data indicate variations in productivity levels based on the extent of sedentary behavior and the nature of physical activity engagement. These early insights underscore the need for a comprehensive understanding of lifestyle factors to enhance the overall well-being and effectiveness of academic professionals.
