“The More You Enjoy, the More You Succeed”: Deepening Sports Enjoyment vis-à-vis Academic Resilience

Abstract

Based from previously conducted studies, it has been determined that students who enjoyed participating in sports may positively influence their resilience in their academic endeavors. However, such studies are predominantly vast in the international setting, but only few to none were conducted in the Philippine’s Higher Education setting. In this regard, the study aimed to determine the direct influence of sports enjoyment to academic resilience. After obtaining data from student-athletes in a selected state university, it was observed that sports enjoyment positively leverages academic resilience. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that participating in various sports events may significantly boost academic performance and may lessen maladjustments in a very challenging academic environment.
