Exercise and Physical Fitness Homework Intervention on the Health of Obese School Children : The Influence of Physical Fitness, Exercise Cognition and Attitude

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of exercise and physical fitness homework intervention on healthy physical fitness, exercise cognition and attitudes in obese schoolchildren. In this study, 45 obese male schoolchildren (BMI≧23.5) from Mostaganem Elementary School in Taipei County were randomly assigned to exercise training group (experimental group A) of 15, exercise training + physical fitness homework group (experimental group A). (Group B) 15 and the control group of 15. Experimental group A and experimental group B All received 30-40 minutes of exercise training three times a week for a period of 10 weeks, and the exercise intensity was between 60-85% of the maximum heart-beat (220-age), experimental group B also received a period of ten weeks, Physical fitness homework was given once a week, while the control group maintained a normal routine. Before and after training, subjects received health fitness test and filled out exercise cognition and exercise attitude questionnaires. The effect was analysed by a two-factor mixed design variance analysis of the interaction between the pre- and post-tests , physical fitness homework intervention was analysed by a single-factor covariate. the significance level was set at α<.05. The results show: flexibility, muscle In terms of endurance and cardiorespiratory endurance, the post-test scores of experimental group A , experimental group B and control group reached a significant level (p<.05). Homework interventions can help improve health and fitness.
