Abstract

This research is a casual-comparative one in type, where we have made effort to study and compare the general health conditions of Iranian mountaineering active and inactive members. Samples included 250 members of these Iranian mountaineers selected randomly and compared as two active and inactive groups. General Health Questionnaire 28(GHQ28) was applied as a means of research, validity, and reliability that has been reported in different research works mentioned. The data collected were analyzed in two descriptive and inferential ways and to sort, summarize and classify the raw grades, and to describe the size of the samples, the descriptive statistics, the frequency, and percentage, the mean and standard deviation were used. In the section dealing with inferential statistics, the X2, Variance analysis, T-test, and correlation coefficients tests were employed. Testing the research hypotheses showed that, there was a significant difference between the general health level of the active and inactive mountaineering members (P<0.01). Comparison and analysis of general health and personal characteristics of the samples showed that there was a significant difference between the investigated samples in their general health from the viewpoint of sex, marital status, last mountaineering degree. Women in this research were found to enjoy better health, the same was the case with the married mountaineers. In respect of the last educational degree, it was understood that junior instructor bachelors were of better general health condition compared to others. A review of locomotive activity showed 193 samples were physically active and 51 of them inactive. (P<0.05).
