Hipp Warm-up Injury Prevention Program and Dynamic Balance among Adolescent Professional Handball Players

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the HIPP warm-up injury prevention program on dynamic balance modifiable intrinsic risk factor among adolescent professional handball players of Kerman city. Twenty-four handballs players objectively selected and randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups. The HIPP injury prevention program performed 8 weeks (3 times per sessions). Dynamic balance before and after intervention programs were measured by Biodex Balance System and Y Balance Test. The mixed repeated measure ANOVA showed no significant differences between experimental and control group (p>0.05). But, the results showed significant differences between pre-test and post-test in experimental group (p<0.05). In conclusion, while dynamic balance improved after 8 weeks exercises but this improvement was not enough to make differences between experimental and control group. We suggest adding more training elements to the HIPP injury prevention programs that aimed to enhance dynamic balance in handball players. With attention to this that balance during handball skill performance is an important factor for injury prevention, the modify HIPP warm-up injury prevention program can be use instead of conventional warm-up program.
