Abstract
Alongside the rise and the proliferation of global-talk, its peculiar relationship with nationalism has begun to grab the particular spotlight in the realm of academia as well, yielding vibrant scholarly discussions. Many scholars of the social sciences, including the field of sport sociology, postulate that globalization and nationalism are inherently antithetical to each other. In this paper, I suggest that the relationship between globalization and nationalism is not inherently contradictory; not only globalization of sport further stimulates nationalist sentiment, but also nationalism can function as a promoter of globalization of sport.
