Abstract
Most women show masculinity gender-role behaviors through participation in soccer in Iran. The aim of the present study was to explore the way that these behaviors as they occurred in the soccer context. Eight elite female soccer players at Iran Super League 2014, two head soccer coaches and one soccer coach were interviewed by a qualitative research method. All of interviews were recorded and then transcribed. Data were analyzed with data collection simultaneously. The results showed a new phenomenon, “cross gender-roles,” in female elite soccer players was recognized by three concepts. These concepts were “changing in the appearance and act,” “changing in the sense,” and “changing in the mind.”
