Abstract

With the rise of technological advancements, institutions grasp the chance to incorporate the advancements to students’ learning. These institutions who embraced the change are defined as smart schools, this is according to the study “Information and Communication Technology in Science”. This study aims to create a standard which will be used to evaluate what technologies do schools in La Union have, which will serve as reference if they are ready to become a smart school. The objectives are to check if the school is ready to transition into a smart school and propose solutions on the discovered issues regarding the transition process. Ethnographic qualitative research design was used, but not in its fullest form, the schools that were surveyed are, SICAT and LORMA, questionnaires were used to gather data, for the data gathering tool, descriptive qualitative and survey quantitative research design was used, in the data analysis they based on the theoretical framework to create information. The researchers concluded that the 2 schools aren’t yet ready for transition into smart schools, due to the lack of technological advancements and utilization for both schools. To improve the study, the recommended action is to account the knowledge of their respondents about the topic for a reliable source of data, and to survey more schools for varying opinions about smart schools The researchers realized that the schools surveyed aren’t ready to transition into smart schools. The technologies in schools in La Union are not used to its potential.
