Abstract
When you teach, how do you know your students are actually learning? This interactive session offers a powerful teaching strategy that leverages the unique ways in which the brains of adult learners work. I discuss how this strategy, rooted in recent discoveries of neuroscience, can be easily adopted by instructors in post-traditional programs toward techniques that maximize their effectiveness in online teaching. No prior knowledge of brain science is needed to understand and apply these techniques! This workshop will be highly interactive, as participants will engage in partner and group discussion with worksheets, as well as physical interaction to demonstrate scientific concepts during the content-sharing section. Additionally, participants will then be tasked with applying concepts to a unit they teach. Participants will leave this fun and exciting workshop with a toolkit of useful tips designed to enrich their post-traditional teaching practice, and—more importantly—ensure that learning is taking place!
