Abstract

Science communication is an effective branch of science for the creation of awareness for various problems in society in a scientific way. Rational and logical thinking needs to be created among us for the scientific approach towards various problems of environmental sustainability. Vigyan Prasar an autonomous organization under the department of science and technology, the government of India working since 1989 for science communication among the Indian Public. Our fellow citizens are facing many problems in the year 2020 like coronavirus pandemic, pollution persistence in air soil, and water, increasing numbers of cancer patients, metabolic disease increasing day by day, and many more. These problems in a direct way or indirectly way associated with the environment. As where we live has a major impact on human health and other organisms. The lectures through YouTube live are an effective mode of communication. This approach enables the viewers to watch the live program remotely and after the schedule as and when he/she gets time to watch. The live lectures on youtube also have the live chat option where individuals can write their comments/ask questions too. The power of the virtual platform is now widely accepted due to the corona pandemic by the speakers/experts to communicate directly with members of wider society in their homes, without the need to organize a formal meeting. The possibilities of this approach become more effective as it effectively gives scientists active control over the media.
