Abstract
Amid the worldwide trend of fragmented audiences and niche products, the telenovela reaches massive audiences in countries where they are produced. They are also narratives that reverse traditional transnational audiovisual flows spreading across the globe. Of popular origin and based on melodrama, however promptly absorbed by the market, telenovelas are one of the most accessible forms of art that have a role of simultaneously giving meaning to the past and help build the future. The research on telenovelas up to now has focused mostly on reception. There are no works dedicated to writing for this format that dominates televisions in most Latin American countries and the westernmost territory of Europe, hence the relevance of this attempt to define some paths of the craft using our practice as authors. This is a hybrid work that mixes empirical experience and market sources with theoretical sources.
