New Media as a New Challenge for Underdeveloped Countries: A Case Study of Pakistan

Abstract

Media has a key role in public awareness and disseminating the message of politics to underprivileged societies. New media has challenged all rational ways of communication like radio, print, and television in form of its outreach. Social media poses challenges to all institutions of states and democracy in underdeveloped countries is on risk.The study presents an outlook of Pakistani new media in the comparison of the traditional approach of media for democracy. The study measures outreach and public opinion through social media about democracy. A survey method is used to analyze the opinion with quantitative approach.
