The Influence of Armed Aggression Speech on Taiwanese Public Risk Perception and Policy Support: Taking the speech of PRC Retired Generals Hong-Kuang Wang, PRC Scholar Tsan-Jung Kim, and national security expert Robert Farley for example

Abstract

To face of the PRC’s policy reforms, ROC government responded with the “three noes” policy (no compromise, no contact, no negotiation). Mr. Ching-Kuo Chiang, the president at that time responded: “Republic of China will absolutely not negotiate with PRC anyway and will never give up the sacred mission of rescuing the compatriots from the mainland. The position will never change.” This study explored the connection between speech of armed aggression and risk perception. Therefore, the questionnaire survey was used to determine whether the degree of media attention and evaluate the public issue involvement will affect the risk perception, furthermore the ROC policy support or not.
