Abstract
Interactivity, together with multimedia and hypertextuality, is often described as one of the differentiating factors of cyberjournalism with respect to conventional journalism. This process summarizes, in general, the experiences of user participation with the support, with the contents, or with other users. In this study, which has a correlational scope, we have surveyed some 1,200 university students from Colombia and Peru, with the objective of evaluating their degrees of interaction with the media and the relationship that exists with levels of political participation offline. The results suggest, in the first place, the existing link between one and another concept: to the extent that a young person participates more in the public space not mediated by the Internet, he/she tends to demand a greater opening of options of participative interaction in the information platforms that it consults, like the opening of blogs, the possibility of commenting the news, the sending of texts or audiovisual contents, among others.
