Abstract
Colorado was the first state to legalize recreational marijuana on November 6, 2012. This study examines editorial content published by the “Pueblo Chieftan,” which is located in the largest city in southern Colorado from 2016 when it was elected to approve recreational dispensaries in the city. Prior to this they were only legal in the county. Both the city and county of Pueblo have growing industries as well as legal dispensaries. This content analysis looked at news stories, editorials, and photographs relating to cannabis. Editorial content has been coded for length, topic, placement on page, and pro or con support for this new issue.
