Food Security Assessment on the Example of the Almaty Region

Abstract

In modern conditions, the problem of ensuring food security plays an important role in the country’s economy. This is due to the fact that the well-being of the whole society and the state of the country’s economy as a whole depend on the level of food security. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the challenges to food security in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the development of practical recommendations in this area, using the experience of other countries as an example. The theoretical framework is based on fundamental and applied scientific contributions by scientists, which have focused on the issue of food security using modern tools and methods, legislation and regulations. The main investigation method is a simulation, which allows looking at the problem at micro and macro levels and creating an innovative model for overcoming the challenges at hand. The developed model includes assessments of threats to food security in the Almaty region, monitoring of international experience in improving the regulation of food security issues, and practical application of innovative approaches to enterprise performance management, given the state of food security. This model includes not only theoretical but also practical recommendations, in particular, a set of methods to protect the economy from the crisis. The practical application of this innovative model will contribute to addressing pressing food security threats in the Almaty region, and help to develop a reliable mechanism for regulating and improving the level of food security.
