Abstract
Family and Consumer Sciences educators teach Food Studies, Child Development, and Independent Living at the secondary level. This environment is ideal for engaging students in sustainability themes, facilitating activism in the local community, and involving the larger school body in meaningful project work. Employing student inquiry-driven teaching strategies and providing authentic assessments is necessary for empowering young adults to become agents of change in the area of sustainability.
