Changing Food Habits of University Students and Impact on Health and Mental Issues: A Case Study in Bangladesh

Abstract

Proper diet is a very important factor for acquiring a sound health condition. Bangladesh has been formed as “The City of Population”, as a result a lot of students every year migrating from their home to different cities of Bangladesh, to pursue their college and university level studies and degrees. Most of them live in hostels and university halls where they cannot ensure proper diets. The main objective of the study is to identify the present situation of food sources of the university students and its impact on their physical and mental health. The required data was collected through questionnaire survey, by both online and offline survey. Regarding, food habit factor, there is an increasing rate of consuming fast food and continuously decreasing the rate of eating healthy and natural food. These circumstances cause many health issues like obesity, overweight and many other mental issues. This study can be used as a comparison of the trending situation of the changing food habits from generation to generation.
