Abstract
I present the findings of my doctoral thesis, which explores the relationship between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Kosovo question in pro-European Serbia from 2008 to 2012. Specifically, I address the following questions: What was the nature of the relationship between the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) and the Kosovo question during the period of 2008-2012? How did the SPC perceive the role of Kosovo within the Serbian nation, both domestically and internationally, from 2008 to 2012? What discourses did the Serbian Orthodox Church rely on to shape its perspective on Kosovo? To address these inquiries, I delve into the following themes: a) The interplay between the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian politics b) The SPC’s perspectives on Europe, Russia, the West, and the Orient in relation to Kosovo c) The juxtaposition of Kosovo in myth and reality d) Kosovo as a catalyst for memory politics Through this analysis, I provide insights into the intricate dynamics of religion, politics, and nationalism in Southeastern Europe during the post-financial crisis era.
