Abstract
The workshop delves into the profound connection between African traditional religion and spirituality (ATRS) and their significant role in the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Recognizing the historical context of African diaspora and the endurance of African cultural practices, this workshop will offer a comprehensive exploration of the spiritual underpinnings that have fueled the #BLM movement and continue to shape its evolution. Through engaging discussions, experiential activities, and insightful presentations, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the rich spiritual heritage that African diasporic communities carry with them. Drawing upon the wisdom of African traditional religion, including various belief systems such as Yoruba, Vodou, and Candomblé, participants will explore the spiritual resilience and resistance that have been integral to the struggle for Black liberation.
