In-Person conference delegates are invited to the case study evening, where we will visit the National Museum of Anthropology and discuss the conference themes.

The comparative symbology of the museum's religious artifacts will be examined during the visit. We'll begin with the Asian collection, where particular attention will be paid to the room of objects from the Arab world, India, and China, developing their context and the general principles common to these vast traditions. Since in traditional societies, everyday life is not detached from the sacred, unlike in the contemporary West, the symbolic involvement of the transcendent in the traditional crafts of the Philippines will also be examined. This will be followed by an exploration of the African collection-where particular attention will be paid to Yoruba and Fang masks and ritual objects-and the American collection-where kachina dolls, voodoo artifacts, and plumaria headdresses from North and South America will be highlighted.
