The Influence of Movement 212 as a Religious Movement in the 2017 Jakarta Governor Election

Abstract

December 2 Action or called Action 212 and The 3rd Islamic defense action took place on December 2, 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia where at least millions of people again demanded the Jakarta Governor inactive, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), who had been named as a suspect in the alleged blasphemy case religion. This is a religious movement for blasphemy cases. The action was held at the National Monument page, Jakarta. The number of participants present ranged from 200 thousand (police claims), to millions (organizer claims). From video evidence spread across various social media and video sharing sites through the capture of drone cameras, it can be seen that the number of masses extends to the area of ​​the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout. In this action, a number of activities carried out were praying and performing Friday prayers together. This movement was very shocking to the world with a large number of participation. As well as reflecting the activities of democracy in Indonesia, it runs very well and develops very smartly. This movement had a very broad impact, when the party charged was in the campaign period for the election of the Jakarta governor. This research will discuss Movement 212 as a whole and the impact on the conditions of the Jakarta Governor election.
