Religion and Good Governance in Nigeria: A Christian Perspective

Abstract

Christianity as one of the religions practiced in Nigeria is relevant to the development of every facet of human life. This means that it can serve as spring board for the inculcation and improvement of knowledge and values which are important and necessary for modelling human behaviour that relate to productivity. Nigeria as a nation is beset with some challenges, such as, insecurity, ethno-religious conflicts, abuse of power, mis-management of resources, poverty and lack of adequate health care among others. All of these have made good governance impossible in Nigeria. With this understanding, this paper examines the concepts of religion, good governance and Christianity as a religion. It further discussed how good governance can be achieved through selected christian teachings.
