Work Life Balance: Climbing the Organizational Ladder with a Baby on Your Back

Abstract

The goal of this workshop is to offer a network, tools, and best practices to other working parents who struggle with balance. I am a woman who was career focused before having kids, and now, since having kids, I have become completely consumed with the internal, daily struggle, between wanting to climb the ladder, but also wanting to be a present and attentive mother. My presentation starts off with a little bit about me, and then breaks out into more of a discussion with the audience, that I guide and keep on track with key topics and reflections. Some key topics include “mom guilt”, child care, “The 5AM Fever Dilemma”, “Hybrid Work Schedules: Gift or Curse?”, “Appropriating Childhood Experiences”, etc. The discussion is a safe place, where women (and men) can talk about their struggles, set-backs, successes, and ways in which they cope with often dueling priorities. I am an avid public speaker with a passion for diversity and cultural change in organizations.
