Abstract
As the future charges forward at an ever increasing velocity, the future of work for consumers and for workers is becoming one of the most important conversations of our time. The ideal worker has been a construct both created and supported by organizational structures of the twentieth century. A growing number of organizations are trying out a different way of doing things, moving beyond the flat organization and into self-management and purpose-led organization. This workshop explores first hand experience of setting up a self-managed organization in comparison to others doing the same thing in different industries. In particular, it explores power and control and the demand for personal growth and creativity to release the power of the self-managed organization. Issues of self-set pay structures, as well as shaking out founder-led power are key concepts to be presented.
