Mistreatment and Job Performance: Mediating Role of Anxiety and Moderating role of Psychological Capital

Abstract

This study aims to examine the main effects of workplace incivility on anxiety and job performance. This research also examines the mediating role of anxiety in relationship with workplace incivility and job performance. Current study also examined the moderated effects of psychological capital (PsyCap) with both direct and indirect paths. Time lag data (N=209) were collected from employee and their supervisor working in various organisations of Pakistan. Results revealed that anxiety mediates between workplace incivility and job performance. Results also suggested the presence of moderation between incivility and anxiety such that the relationship was weaken when PsyCap was high. Similarly, PsyCap moderates between anxiety and performance such that the relationship was weaken when PsyCap was high. Result also suggested the presence of moderated mediation.
