Moderating Effects of Organizational Culture on the Relationship between Islamic Work Ethics and Knowledge Sharing Behaviors

Abstract

The study of knowledge sharing behaviours has emerged as an important topic about understanding the effects of knowledge management within organisations. This study aims to investigate the influence of Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) on knowledge sharing behaviours (KSBs) of employees in the workplace, with the moderating effect of organisational culture (OC). A survey methodology was used to collect data from 324 employees in the banking sector of Pakistan. The structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis showed that IWE has a positive effect on knowledge sharing behaviours of employees. Results also indicated that organisational culture has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between IWB and KSBs. This study is among the first to examine the moderating effect of organizational culture in the association between IWB and KSBs. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are also discussed.
