Relationships among Islamic Work Ethics, Work Engagement, and Knowledge Sharing Behaviors: A Study of Banking Sector in Pakistan

Abstract

The study of knowledge sharing behaviors has emerged as an important topic in relation to understanding the effects of knowledge management within organizations. This study aims to investigate the influence of Islamic Work Ethics (IWE) on knowledge sharing behaviors (KSBs) of employees in the workplace, with the mediating effect of work engagement (WE). A survey methodology was used to collect from 431 employees in the banking sector of Pakistan. The structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis showed that IWE has a positive effect on knowledge sharing behaviors of employees. The findings also reveal that work engagement mediates the indirect association between IWB and KSBs. This study is among the first to examine the indirect effect of work engagement in the association between IWB and KSBs. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are also discussed.
