Abstract

A study found that crime and fear of crime have a major impact on people’s lives and resulting in a substantial economic cost. One of the factors that lead to the increased crime rate is due to low arrest and conviction rates for criminal offenses. The criminal investigation involved the collection of raw information that processed to be knowledge and evidence for a conviction. As metaphorically “knowledge is power”, it is important to have such knowledge for the organisation to thrive and stay relevant in the fast-changing economy. Knowledge sharing also regards as a natural solution to enhance customer service and improve operations in police organisation (Luen and Al-Hawamdeh, 2001). However, some study found that the police officer’s willingness to initiate and share knowledge is the toughest task to achieve. Thus, an understanding of how to foster police officer’s knowledge sharing behaviour has become significant. This paper proposed Knowledge Sharing model in a criminal investigation in Royal Malaysia Police from trait emotional intelligence perspective.
