Lived Experiences of Students on Adult Education Programmes with Information Communication Technology Services

Abstract

Information communication technology (ICT) greatly facilitates the acquisition and absorption of knowledge, offering opportunities to improve educational systems and open access to knowledge in ways unimaginable not long ago. Access to ICTs is therefore a key enabler. The study sets to find out lived experiences of students on Adult Education programmes with information communication technology services at UNEISWA, Kwaluseni. Ninety (90) students in the final year classes of the Adult Education programmes and 6 ICT Centre technical support staff responsible for the computer laboratories at Kwaluseni participated. The study’s methodological approach was a mixed method. It was concluded that challenges with access to ICT services, alternative ways of access and attitudes of students towards ICT services predicted the lived experiences of students on Adult Education programmes with ICT services.
