Abstract
The purpose of this communication is to present an educational project carried out by Coletivo Slam da Guilhermina, which encourages young students to engage in poetic reading and writing practices in slam events at schools in São Paulo. The idea of promoting school slams was imported from France, but on Brazilian soil the poetic performances have gained a transgressive and subversive connotation, letting the voices of black, poor, and peripheral youth echo. This paper contrasts the voices of students from the Global South and the Global North at school slam events held here and there.
