Interdepartmental Collaboration and Student Success: Social Work and Academic Affairs Partnership

Abstract

The interdepartmental collaboration between the Department of Social Work and the Office of Student Success and Engagement plays a pivotal role in assisting learners from diverse backgrounds and levels of abilities to succeed. The success of this collaborative model is evident at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania, USA. Students are taught to become acutely aware of the needs of diverse learners. Education and awareness then translates to the department of student success and engagement providing a wealth of resources to meet identified needs; evidenced by diverse learners student retention statistics, which are considered in this study.
