Leveraging Social Media for Positive Storytelling to Improve Attraction/Retention in Public Education

Abstract

Public Education in the United States and throughout the world has an attraction and retention problem. Politicians, communities, and even educators are negative about public education. School officials have allowed others to control their narrative. Saginaw ISD has leveraged social media tools to control its own narrative. Positive storytelling efforts through social media sites has increased retention by building a culture of positive celebration and has attracted outside talent.
