A Survey on Productivity of Higher Education and Teaching Methods During the Pandemic in Turkey

Abstract

The pandemic process announced by the World Health Organization as of March 2021 has also hastened the already existing acceleration of digitalization. The world of education is one of the sectors where this digitalization is experienced, implemented and felt most intensely. In this project, the research is carried out on the distance education methods implemented in universities in Turkey during the pandemic process and in this context, the criteria by which the productivity of university students in this situation is achieved, and the results are being examined in different dimensions. For this purpose, the questionnaire technique, which is one of the data collection tools frequently used by those working in the field of social sciences, was preferred and quantitative research was conducted in the first part of this study, which was carried out on two parts. In the second part, in addition to the survey, in-depth interviews were conducted with the distance education units of the universities. The data obtained from 1604 participants, who formed the sample group of the study, were analysed and interpreted with the SPSS program. Interviews with distance education units were also examined in the light of discourse analysis. The hypotheses created for the study is tested with appropriate statistical methods and interpreted in the context of the findings.
