Digital Practices in Language Classrooms: From Structured to Autonomous Language Learning

Abstract

This research investigates how developing digital practice in English language classrooms can help English teachers in educating autonomous English learners. The research begins with understanding the current condition of involvement of digital practice in English learning in Iran. Then the researcher investigates how the integration of digital practice in English classes can help develop autonomous English learning. To this end, due to the nature of the research, a mixed-methods approach will be adopted. The findings of the research address a nationally significant language learning problem in Iran by supporting digital driven education in English teaching and learning, which is of interest for many ELT (i.e. English Language Teaching) experts, English teachers and learners at different levels in private English language institutes.
