Green Human Resources Management, Practices and Standards Applied to Companies in the Hotel Sector in Cali, Colombia

Abstract

The research examines the regulations and certifications applied in environmental management and the development of green human talent management (GHRM) strategies in companies in the hotel sector in Cali, Colombia. A documentary analytical research with a qualitative approach and an empirical study are carried out in seven hotels in the city of Cali with in-depth interviews. The findings reveal the existence of mandatory and voluntary standards, both nationally and internationally, that govern Colombia and other countries that can be a guide for hotels. It is highlighted that despite basic actions of social responsibility regarding waste treatment and environmental care and especially water, there is a general lack of knowledge about GHRM, and its positive impact on the sustainability of the company and relationships with various stakeholders. A guide is proposed for the green management of human talent, outlining specific actions in areas and processes, providing a valuable basis for companies in the hotel sector and thus strengthening their sustainability strategies.
