Chihuahua 1.4.8: Market-workshop centre

Abstract

“The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.” In Chihuahua, the level of education is of 40.3%. 30.6% of the population lives in poverty, and 3.2% lives in extreme poverty. In order to solve this, the contribution proposes the results of the application of these guidelines to a project proposed in the city, which will help reduce poverty by providing workshops and spaces for trade where, with the help of tourists, members of the communities will develop an exchange through the teaching of techniques to create different handicrafts and typical dishes. This will give tourists the opportunity to purchase products made by members of the communities, or they can also learn to make these products themselves, so they can acquire them after learning the process by which they are made. In the same way, it will improve the education indexes through the workshops where the different members of the communities will have the opportunity to teach and learn new skills and techniques from members of other places in order to be able to apply them, either within the trade of their products or, to improve their own communities. In addition, this space given to develop decent jobs will help economic growth through the space generated for learning and trade.
