Environmental Impacts of Tourism at Natural Resort in Lajeado City: Tocantins State, Brazil

Abstract

Tourism is now an alternative used by several countries to boost the economy of regions with unique scenic beauties. But it is not enough for the regions to undertake tourism in a disorderly way without the concern of planning to minimize the environmental impacts that are today the main challenge for tourism practice. In this way, the concept of sustainable tourism emerged, which is the type of tourism that can meet the needs of this generation without compromising the needs of the next generations. In this context, a case study was carried out in a tourist attraction in the city of Lajeado in the Tocantins State, with the main objective of analyzing the environmental impacts of the natural Resort. The methodology used was simple checklist. The main results of the evaluation of environmental impacts carried out in Lajeado natural resort were the presence of erosion, roots of exposed trees, garbage on the spot, tires scattered as a decorative form, but which were attracting foci of the dengue mosquito and mainly, sewage being launched on the river..
