A Review of Global Coffee Tourism Research

Abstract

Despite the passage of time, coffee is still a popular beverage in practically the entire world. In considering the study of coffee tourism as relevant, this article will gather information based on a large part of the applied and practical research currently available on this topic, including different work on the conceptualization of coffee tourism. As a niche in the tourism market, coffee tourism has developed in both many countries and different regions for decades, but academic research has lagged behind. In the case of the study of other types of tourism related to beverages, for example, wine tourism, we observed the initial data from the early stages of this field of research, but highlight the rapid development of the mid-nineties. We consider it essential to know and manage the existing information regarding coffee tourism to explore the opportunities, challenges and initiatives related to this tourism niche. Which the compilation in this paper we will try to collaborate in the development of a theoretical framework of Coffee Tourism.
