Abstract
A rich natural environment characterizes the Colombian territory which has a great potential to be touristic. Nevertheless these areas are missed, some are unknown and unreachable. The main causes for this situation are geographic and ecosystem complexity, State oversight, and social-economics problems. In our case, the place of study is the Orinoquía region, mainly the Piedmont, part of the east mountain chain. The study area includes territories of five departments, focusing on Casanare and Meta. Our research goes through a strategic view that allows the sustainable use of the principal ecologic structure, by facilitating ecotourism and appropriation by the local communities that are merged in this territory. This paper corresponds to the initial part of the research project, pointed out the definition of terms and the preliminary description of the study case is the route: “piedemonte llano-selva” between two natural national parks, The Cocuy and the Macarena, in between two rivers the Casanare and the Guayabero. We start with a recognition of the places that surround the main road (Marginal de la selva) and we observe several aspects to be analyzed of the potential places that could be the support of this route.
