Tagasalo: Assuming the Responsibility of Others

Abstract

“Tagasalo” is a Filipino cultural term that may refer to the one who assumes the responsibility of others in a Filipino way. The study shares how Filipinos assume duties and responsibilities regardless of family ties and relationship, particularly for older people. Mixed method research is applied to acquire the output of the study. The results shows that Filipino psyche and mentality cannot be divorced from being emotional when it comes to “tagasalo” attitude.
