The workshop is based on the SOUND methodology that uses active and passive music-based activities to improve the well-being of older people with dementia, formal and informal caregivers. Scholars are trained on the SOUND concept and then involved in a music session together with older people and dementia care professionals for experiencing the benefit of the method. The workshop will be conducted by Claudia Carletti, a teacher and singer from the Association CENTRO MUSICALE ORLANDINI (ACMO).
GROUP TWO - Promoting Active Aging via Social Farming
Visit of the educational and social farm l’Asino che ride – Conero Regional Park (Massignano, Ancona, Italy)
We will present the natural environment, the winter garden, and the sensory garden, designed according to the Maria Montessori's method. These are locations where social farming activities are carried out, and especially active longevity. This is targeted for disabled people, over-65s and over 80s, in order to improve the physical and psychological well-being through suitably defined experiential and relational moments and in order to create, in a rural setting, new welfare models. During the visit we will provide examples of workshops for motor and cognitive stimulation for elderly people through in-presence activities and videos display.
The farm is located in Massignano a small village 15 kilometers far from the town of Ancona.
GROUP THREE - Visit to the State Tactile Museo Omero
MUSEO OMERO IS A TACTILE museum in Ancona, Italy ( https://www.museoomero.it/en/ ), and one of the few places in the world where the knowledge of art is transmitted not through sight but through touch. The museum aims to help the visually impaired to experience art but its unique multi-sensory exhibition is accessible to everyone.
The meeting will focus on a project activated by the Retirement Home Opera Pia Ceci of Camerano for its guests, elderly people with Alzheimer and senile dementia. At the museum, analysing some of the sculptures, they had the opportunity to work on some memories regarding their past.
