The Effects of Stress Management Techniques on Anxiety, Depression, and Blood Pressure in the Elderly of Tehran Province

Abstract

Issues facing older people in society have long been of interest to scholars. This study investigates techniques of stress management on anxiety, depression and hypertension in the elderly. This quasi-experimental study was conducted in nursing homes with participants aged 65-75 years in the five provinces of Tehran, Iran. Twenty-seven patients (13 in experimental group + 14 in control group) were selected by simple random sampling method. Questionnaires on depression and anxiety were administered. After recording the data in SPSS software, analysis of covariance was used. Results show how stress management techniques for anxiety, depression and blood pressure influenced the elderly.
