Abstract
This paper, based on a field study, looks the lives and livelihoods of the aged people in Bangladesh. In particular, it focuses the lives and livelihoods of the rickshaw pullers over 60 and working in Dhaka city. Fifty rickshaw pullers were selected from a particular area in Dhaka city to participate in a survey. Data were collected on the different aspects of their lives and livelihoods. Results show that due to the lack of income security, government services, and employment opportunities in the local community, these aged people were bound to migrate themselves to seek income to support their lives and livelihoods. Findings are important to increase understanding and support the aged population in Bangladesh.
