Education as an Interdisciplinary Subject for Research in Social Sciences: Perspectives and Practices

Abstract

Education as a subject of research has been a debate over the years and several scholars in social sciences have described its nature and importance for social transformation. Education broadly deals with sociology, psychology, philosophy, technology, management, history, anthropology, etc. In order to understand and address educational issues and challenges, one needs to have a thorough knowledge of the above domains. Learning and development have multiple utilities -individual, social, economic, and cultural dimensions. This paper highlights the epistemological perspectives of knowledge and its application in the discipline of education from the theory and practice.
