Assessing Research Capability of Faculty Members in a Local College: A Basis for Developing Institutional Research Culture

Abstract

This study determined the level of competency of faculty members in a local college in terms of research capability relative to institutional support, accessibility to resources, financial, and time. Descriptive type of research was utilized in the study. Findings revealed that respondents were capable in terms of institutional support, professional research training, and access to resources and materials. On the other hand, the research motivation of respondents to conduct research is for career promotion. Further, in terms of competence in terms of the technical aspect of research, respondents find gathering and analyzing data more challenging than writing and presenting their research.
