Environmental Psychology in Learning and Instruction of Architecture

Abstract

Environmental psychology explores human environment interactions. Learning environments are the settings for learning and instruction. Architectural design studios are the mode of instruction of and the space where studying and instructing architecture is done. The main of the study was to establish how the learning environments affects teaching and learning of architecture. Using critically reviewed literature from environmental behavioural studies in the last 20 years it established that learning environments affect teaching and learning of architecture. This paper adds on to knowledge on how designed spaces affect learning and instruction. Since its focus is on the creators of these spaces in design process, its impacts on the built environment as a whole are tremendous.
