Employee’s Workplace Wellbeing and Level of Life Satisfaction in North-west China’s Cashmere Industry

Abstract

The topic of workplace wellbeing and its relations to level of life satisfaction has received increasing attention in the area of organization’s sustainable development, owing to its potentially enormous influence on the individual’s health and wellbeing. Therefore, an investigation towards the practical linkage between workplace wellbeing and life satisfaction in labour-intensive industry could provide a new pathway for understanding workplace wellbeing and exploring potential methods to improve level of life satisfaction. However, there is a lack of study in this field. The aim of this research is to provide micro-level insights into the relationship between levels of workplace wellbeing and individual life satisfaction using Chinese cashmere production as a case study for labour-intensive industry. The contribution of this research is to bring forward direction on exploring the quantified relationship between workplace wellbeing and life satisfactions towards workers. During fieldwork in summer 2019, Ningxia Rongchang Cashmere Industry Group has been present as the case company for the research. It is a private enterprise consisting of six subsidiary companies. Data has been gathered from selected factory, and 648 individual wellbeing questionnaires were received back. The Pearson correlation will be test between workplace wellbeing data and life satisfaction data. There are positive relationships between workplace wellbeing and life satisfaction for workers in the cashmere factory in north-west China. The development of an industry should make effort on the inner side condition of employee, for achieving organisation’s sustainability in the long run.
