Abstract
The primary purpose of conducting this study was to ascertain the advantages of teaching English through augmented reality (AR) and mobile learning devices to ascertain the correlation between academic success and motivation behind these technological tools. The study carried out a review of the current literature on the subject. Most of the available literature has been primarily concentrated on the value of AR and mobile learning for students in scientific studies. As a result, this study takes a different path by analyzing the value of AR tools in English language teaching. This current review offers both qualitative and quantitative synthesis of the current literature that has been carried out on augmented reality and mobile learning particularly in the teaching of English language. The review finds positive outcomes obtained on the effectiveness of AR and mobile learning technology in teaching and learning. Findings insinuate that mobile learning and AR have far reaching advantages for English teaching and learning compared to disadvantages.
